A standards-based exploration of the role of water in our lives, for grades 2 – 8

A Drop in the Bucket, developed in alignment with California standards, is a hands-on program designed to promote awareness of local, regional, and global water issues—especially the California drought—and what everyone can do to help conserve our most precious natural resource. We can offer in-person programming or distance learning through real-time live streaming.

We can do up to 2 programs a day, each program consists of 2 classes.
Two classes participate in the program in tandem but with their own Wildwoods instructor. Each instructor can facilitate the program for a maximum of 35 students.

Program 1: 8:30 – 9:45 am
Class A | Class B

In between programs, our instructors take a lunch break and reset the program area. They need a minimum of 60 minutes between programs.

Program 2: 10:45 – 12:00 pm
Class C | Class D

This is only a sample. You will select the times that work best for your school.

What to Expect
This three-part experience builds curiosity helps students see how water shapes our world.

Part 1: A 30-minute virtual session that introduces key
concepts and vocabulary. Each class will select their individual
timeslot.

Part 2: A 75-minute on campus, hands on program serving 2 – 4
classes per day. The main contact, the person filling out this
form, selects the date we will see all of the participating
classes.

Part 3: Finally, a 30-minute virtual follow-up expanding
understanding through interactive discussions and real-world
connections. Each class will pick their individual timeslot.

Reservation Process
Simply fill out the form for the in-person program below and we’ll take it from here!

We will send emails to all participating educators listed below, using a simple Google form, to reserve their dates for the pre-visit and follow-up program at times convenient for them. 

Participation in the livestreamed pre-visit and follow-up visit are optional. Teachers who do not reserve these dates can still participate in the in-person program.

Expand student knowledge by diving deeper into the science behind water filtration as students build filters alongside our instuctor
using common everyday items.

Optional: Water Filter Activity

If you want to include the hands-on component, building a water filter, it will add 15 minutes to the program for a total time of approximately 60 minutes.

If “yes,” you will need to distribute the materials list (English / Spanish) to students ahead of time if they are bringing them from home. Otherwise, please secure the necessary items ahead of time.
